What exactly keeps people coming back to dive bars? They tend to have disadvantages: no food, small and smoky spaces, small drinks. But every downside has an upside. In either direction of a dive, there are generally a dozen places where you can get a good dose of greasy food to soak up the booze. And does it matter if a dive is small, as long as there’s room for you and your glass? And, let’s not forget, small drinks can easily equal cheap drinks. Who won’t enjoy that? We visited Rosie’s Place in the Central West End to see how they revel in their dive bar status.
