I just wanted to let everyone know, I went there not knowing how it would be. It ended up being a very cool atmosphere The bartender Julie..was amazing and I laughed all night. The owners daughter Kelsey really made my night as well. They both made my wonderful night .. I also had a baby shower there and the food there was DELISH!!! I absolutely recommend this place if you want to feel like a family and have a blast

Unfair to the musician

I'm reposting in support of Jim Steven's Band....I suggest you pay-up Spirit's Lounge in Alton! Musicians are what makes the bar!

"Tonight, my band was scheduled to play at Spirit's Lounge in Alton. Upon arrival, I was told the show had been cancelled. Casey Bennington, the women who hired us, admits no one contacted me to cancel, but also refuses to pay for the cancelled show. As the bandleader, it's my responsibility to pay the musicians whether we play or not, which I did. I do my dead level best to provide a quality product and treat everyone fairly. It's people like these that make an already low paying career nearly impossible to sustain. Things like this don't happen often, but when it does, it really sucks."

Wedding and Reception

This place is HORRIBLE! Do not have you wedding there! It was about 85 degrees in the hall for the reception! It was comfortable at the wedding but after they set up for the reception, it was miserable. They left the doors open while the carried in the tables and such! Then they forgot to make the pasta and the rest of the food was terrible. We had the pasta and chicken with rasbery sauce at the bridal shower and it was very good. At the wedding reception the chicken was dry and it was definately not the same rasberry sauce we had before. You couldn't even chew the pork! People were leaving immediately after eating because it was too hot to dance. The owner was so rude to us about the food and the tempurature in the hall. Also there is a news article on "The Telegraph.com" (May 16, 2010) that states they are about to be foreclosed on. From the way it is ran, I can believe it! No recommendations from us!

Wow, what a great place to eat. Good food in a historical building, what more could you ask for? The atmosphere is amazing, the service is excellent and the food is reasonably priced. You have to check it out for yourself.

This Place Sucks!

My friends had their wedding here and they were very disappointed. The lady running everything, Paivi, was UNEXPERIENCED, UNPROFESSIONAL, and RUDE! not to mention they didn't actually give them a final price for the food until the day of the wedding! DO NOT GO HERE!
