or is Ranoush like a hidden diamond just waiting to be discovered? I popped in for lunch about a year ago with some girlfriends, have been coming back on a regular basis ever since. The owner just happens to be one of my very favorite people, always smiling, happy to greet you....asks how your food is, offers a free treat now and then, this man really knows how to work his magic. The food NEVER diappoints, I had the fish this past Sunday....spectacular, lightly seasoned, flakey...white. Desserts are a must, as the owners mother in law is an Angel in the kitchen..stop in for coffee and dessert if you haven't time for an entire meal.
Family friendly, never rushed....I have to say I bring all my company to eat here, no one has ever walked away hungry or disappointed.

When food is made from scratch, with love, you can taste it. Such is the case at Ranoush. And this is not some generic "Middle Eastern" Cuisine. Some of these recipes are from the owners grandmother in Syria! So while the dishes may seem familiar there are suble flavor differences that are wonderful and exciting. There are no generic spice blends or packaged foods from Sysco here kids; this is the real deal and they have been cooking for you all day. The only hard part for you is deciding what to order! But it is all good so you can't go wrong.
So get there early while you can still get a seat and enjoy the flavor differences of each sauce and dish. Your taste buds can still get excited without MSG and tons of salt! And save room for baklava. Forget that greasy sweet stuff you have had everywhere else in St. Louis. Ranoush's is full of cinnamon and walnuts and just the right amount of sweetness. It is just perfect with the mint tea.
Vegetarians and carnivores will be equally pleased!

We went for lunch on a Sunday, actually were going to Al Tarboush for a Falafel sandwich, but they were not open yet. So we sat outside at Ranoush. We ordered a platter for 2, with Falafel, Baba Ganoush, Hummus, and a few other items. I love mid eastern and this was only fair. The people working there were very nice and my friend went inside to use the facilities and said the place was really cool inside. I understand they have belly dancing and we saw a couple guys get a big hooka outside. So if you want a cool atsmophere I would recommend it, if you want really good mid eastern food I'd try somewhere else.
