Central West End pub crawl
By Joshua Gilbert, Special to Metromix
When Metromix decides to do a pub crawl, there is normally one requirement that is the deciding factor of whether or not an area is befitting – if need be, could we literally crawl to the next place? At times, we’ve had to walk quite a few blocks between bars, and other times we’ve had to hire a driver to take us from one area bar to the next, but at no other time than now is the “crawl” the necessary component when picking out our next neighborhood to booze through; it’s January, and it’s 13 degrees outside. Well, not being one to want to waste a day inside next to the fire, we decided the best and only option left was to pack on the layers and head out to the Central West End, where there are more bars and pubs within walking distance than just about anywhere else in St. Louis. This historically ritzy neighborhood is rich with culture and style, and we were ready to get a good 12 hour dose of it...
