Knocking off early to head out for a serious happy hour
To say that John P. Fields is an Irish bar, technically speaking, would be a misnomer. It just seems like the wood and brick bar would be an Irish pub. However, with a full menu that runs the gamut of styles, and plenty of un-Irish beers, it becomes clear that this place is just a good neighborhood pub. When compared with its neighbor, Fields is the more relaxed of the two. I’ve been here several times and had great conversations over drinks in a laid-back atmosphere, where it could be crowded, but I could still hear every word I was saying. One of the few places in Clayton that has a back patio, you can enjoy it on the unseasonably warm days, as we head here into winter. Fields is a nice little hideaway in the middle of Clayton, where one can feel a sense of privacy, despite being surrounded by large office buildings.
