The booze
Brewski sampler
$5.25
My husband loves a beer sampler, and this taste of Morgan Street Brewery’s finest fulfilled his needs. First up, clockwise from the left, is the Dopplebock. He noted that it smelled a bit like coffee and that for a dark beer, it was reasonably smooth; the most drinkable dark brew he’s ever had, in fact. Next was their Steam Lager. This one was surprisingly more bitter than the darker Dopplebock. He felt it was well-made, but ultimately more aggressive than he likes his beers. The Honey Wheat was next on the sampler, and this one pleasantly surprised him: each sip would almost start to taste bitter, only to be smoothed out by a sweet overlay. Their Vienna was next on the list, and it ended up being his favorite of the five. He thought it was very smooth and had a toffee/caramel flavor that tempered the bitterness really well. His last sample was the Krystal. This one is not to be confused with Bud, even though it seemed like the most “regular Joe-type beer” of the bunch. It was a little sharp (agreeably so) and had more bite to it than the Busch classic, and turned out to be my husband’s second-favorite of the sampler.
