St. Louis microbreweries
Ahh... the powerhouse of craft beermakers in St. Louis – the Schlafly Beer company. Started in 1991 with the Tap Room downtown, Schlafly has exploded into the top 40 of craft breweries in the U.S. (Sam Adams is #1), have two popular restaurants, and sell its beer in many more bars, liquor stores and supermarkets. Schalfly has a tap pretty much at every bar in the area that isn’t a national chain, and is hard to miss with its ever-growing presence; so large a presence that they had to build the Bottleworks in Maplewood in 2003 to house their enormous facilities.
