While Anne Hathaway has been busy filming Les Miserables, co-hosting last year's Oscars and getting engaged to jewelry designer Adam Shulman, her Italian ex-boyfriend has been spending time in a Pennsylvania federal prison.

And now he's done his time.

Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesman Chris Burke tells AP that Follieri, 34, was released today from a facility in Loretto, 80 miles east of Pittsburgh. He faces deportation.

Follieri pleaded guilty to cheating investors by falsely claiming he had Vatican connections that enabled him to buy church property at a discount. He was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison after pleading guilty to 14 counts of wire fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering in October 2008.

Follieri, who dated Hathaway for four years before they split in June 2008, agreed he owes more than $3.6 million.
