Add Donny Osmond to the list of singers battling vocal setbacks.
As of Monday, Donny has been sidelined by vocal fatigue, reports the Las Vegas Sun. Sister Marie Osmond sang solo that night, for the first time at their Donny & Marie production at Flamingo Showroom.
Marie was joined onstage during duets with Shane Baker, who has performed with her on her solo tour, A Little Bit Country and a Whole Lot More, and made his Flamingo debut with her Wednesday night.
A representative of Marie Osmond says Baker will perform with Marie "until further notice," or when Osmond is cleared to return to the stage, reports the Sun. If he were an athlete, he'd be listed as "day to day."
Tweeted Marie to fans: No worries, @donnyosmond is going to be fine. Just protecting his voice. Singers have to rest it for faster recovery. Miss ya, bro!
Donny's Facebook page says the singer has been "placed on vocal rest" and will be unable to perform to sing live at his NCM Fathom Events production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat events on Monday and April 4.
Celine Dion, who has also been on vocal rest, plans to return to her Vegas show on June 9. According to an update on her website earlier this week, it is "expected that she'll be back to 100% within four weeks time."
