August 20: M... I... Z

Metromix
As a long-time Mizzou football fan (disclaimer: I am a fair weather football fan, but I love tailgating, donning my tiger ears and chanting Mizzou cheers), one of my favorite events each year is when my Tigers come to town to take on the Fighting Illini in the Arch Rivalry game. Alas, as they are moving the game out of St. Louis next year (road trip!), I am going to use this as an excuse to send the game out in style. Where will I be, you might ask? Well, I am lucky enough to get to throw my own party (on behalf of Metromix) and gear up before the game. Want to come down and party with us at the Metromix Pregame Blitz? You know that you do. We want you there... and we're giving you a shot at prizes for RSVPing early (my mom always told me that it was polite to let someone know if you are coming). RSVP here for your chance to win Slackers gift certificates and other goodies.
You should probably come by... and not just because I'm there. Come by for the great drink and shot specials, the Slackers game lounge, yummy food, Metromix goodies (in your favorite team colors), a chance to show your love on the Metromix blue carpet and the free shuttle to the game. Are you in? Yeah, I thought so.
But, if you're not coming (and I'm giving you the stink eye right now), there are plenty of other parties to attend (though ours will be the most fun, if I do say so myself). Check out these parties and tailgates where good times are sure to be had.
Arch Revelry on the Landing--Head down to Laclede's Landing on Friday night for a free party. Enjoy a battle of the pep bands, live music and more. Bonus: this is an all ages event, so it's perfect for bringing mom and dad before your afternoon of tailgating.
Mizzou vs. Illinois Riverboat Race--Come down to the Gateway Arch Riverfront for a chance to cheer on your favorite team before the actual game. For $19, you can even board your team's designated riverboat on the St. Louis Riverfront and book it down the Mississippi. Everyone aboard will receive a complimentary drink and a continental breakfast.
Bud Light Tailgate Party--Bud Light will get the party started at Baer Plaza and Convention Plaza beginning at 11:00 a.m. the morning of the game. Come on over and have an ice cold drink before you head over to the Missouri or Illinois tailgating headquarters. Illinois will be holding down the fort at Broadway and Convention Plaza and Missouri will be keeping it real at 6th and Convention Plaza.
What are you doing to celebrate the game? What are some of your favorite tailgating traditions? Leave a comment below and let me know!
