What a final, huh? Epic. Aggressive. Entertaining.
I felt like we really gave it all we had in the finals, and it's not like you can score any better than 90 out of 90! Nevertheless, I was really happy for Donald. He is an amazing man and he also did very well.
Being on this show for 10 seasons, you learn that it's not always about the dancing. It is also about fan base and popularity. With that in mind, I am extremely proud to have taken a girl who was unknown in the U.S. three months ago and all the way to the finals — and finish in second place. We put up a good fight and did all we could within the scoring system so I am beyond pleased.
Right after Tuesday night's show, the final three couples flew from Los Angeles to New York so we could appear on Good Morning America live at 7 a.m. ET. The plane ride was really fun — we danced, sang and had a great time together, reminiscing about the season. But I was lucky to get four hours of sleep on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Thursday (May 24th) was my birthday, although I had to postpone the celebration for a while. That morning, Kat and I appeared on Live with Kelly and danced together one last time. After Live, we made an appearance on The Chew. Once we finished doing press, I got to spend the rest of the day in NYC celebrating my birthday, which is always fun. But I have to say, turning 26 is definitely no fun! After the week we had, I feel like an old man!
This summer, I will be working on a new album. I recently signed to BMG as a writer/artist and will be working with some amazing producers like Timbaland, Bangladesh and the Beamer Boyz. I'm really looking forward to resting my body for a little and focusing on music and other things. Make sure to keep up with me on twitter @markballas for more updates during the break.
Until then, this wild animal is going to take a break and hopefully they will let me back out of my cage for DWTS' All-Stars season! Hope to see you there!
