Woody Allen is back in a New York state of mind: After shooting four films in Europe, the filmmaker returns to the Big Apple—and his signature brand of shvitzing and self-deprecating humor—with "Whatever Works."
Larry David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") channels Allen's id as Boris, a neurotic curmudgeon who takes in a young Southern runaway (Evan Rachel Wood) only to end up romantically involved with her and entangled with her conservative parents.
Allen, David and Wood, along with Patricia Clarkson (who plays Wood's sassy mother), swung by for a press conference in New York and chatted about how, exactly, they made it all work.
