Kings of Leon were playing Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights Friday night when after three songs, the band walked off the stage. Minutes later a voice came over the intercom telling people that due safety concerns beyond their control the show was cancelled and they ask that fans head towards the exits. As you can imagine fans weren't gonna leave that easily. Fans began chanting "refund...refund."
Rumors started flying on social network sites but the MTV UK website claims that Kings of Leon drummer, Nathan Followill stated on his twitter account, “So sorry St Louis. We had to bail, pigeons shitting in Jared’s mouth and it was too unsanitary to continue.” Fans replied angrily to this tweet and Nathan responded again with “Don't take it out on Jared, it's the fucking venue’s fault. You may enjoy being shit on but we don't. Sorry for all who travelled many miles.”
At 12:30 a.m. on Saturday July 24, Live Nation released this statement about refunds being given to Kings of Leon fans.
Due to the unexpected abbreviated Kings of Leon performance at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Live Nation is issuing refunds on all tickets.
Purchases made at the box office and outlets, will be refunded at point of purchase starting Monday, July 26. Purchases made online and via phone will be refunded starting Monday, July 26.
Box office hours are Monday- Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am- 2pm.
That should make fans a little happier for now. Kings have been working on a new album which is slated to be released in the latter half of 2010.
