May 19: Live on the Levee announcement

We're pretty lucky, when you think about it. We've got an entire month here in St. Louis where we can go check out some of the best bands in the country - completely free of charge. And I'm happy to report, we've got the inside scoop on who the first band of the Live on the Levee series is going to be: Sonic Youth. According to Rolling Stone, this was the most exciting band of the 1980s, bar none. That's some pretty high praise. Consider this... the band formed in 1981, and still tours feverishly to this day. I know I'm pretty excited about the announcement. If there aren't flood conditions this year like there were last year, Live on the Levee will be under the Arch again. Now, I said Sonic Youth was the first act for Live on the Levee, but that's not counting the Fair St. Louis acts. Celebrate St. Louis will announce tomorrow the acts for the Fair, and the rest of the acts for Live on the Levee. Check back tomorrow at noon to find the complete list. I'm hoping we'll get some other great acts, like last year. I got a chance to sit down and interview O.A.R. last year, and went and shot a lot of photos at Soldier's Memorial. Check those out as you get ready for tomorrow's big announcement.
