May 20: Full Live on the Levee schedule

Metromix
When Metromix broke the news of this year's Fair Saint Louis and Live on the Levee schedules, my ears perked up. I anxiously await the announcement of the bands that will be playing this fabulous concert series, and this year was no exception. Last year, I fought the heat and the crowds (oh... the crowds) to see O.A.R., Boyz II Men and the Black Crowes perform off the levee, and was not disappointed (seriously, I know that Shawn was singing directly to me). This year I will once again brave the heat and the crowds to see some of the acts on the summer lineup. I am particularly interested in seeing Counting Crows, Gretchen Wilson and Guster, and am even more excited that I won't have to pay!
I caught Counting Crowes when they rolled through town last summer with Maroon 5. I have a soft spot in my heart for Adam Duritz (despite his reclusive and bizarre ways) and will be up front yet again rockin' out to some 'Mr. Jones' (my fifth grade self is so jealous).
Though I'm not usually a country fan (save for some love for Pat Green), I will amble myself down to the riverfront to see Gretchen Wilson. I hear that she puts on a rockin' show, and add to that she has serious love for St. Louis and the Cardinals (hailing from Pocahontas, Illinois she is somewhat of a 'local' girl). Her energy combined with her rabid fans should make this show a great time (and a people watching Mecca).
Finally (and most importantly) I will be front and center (if I can push everyone out of my way) for Guster. I like their laid back, jam band style and have been a loyal follower since high school. I love me some nice Jewish boys (so much so that I even own Adam Gardner's 'Hanukkah Rocks' CD... a product of his side project, The LeeVees) and think that they have the perfect summer sound. I'm on board.
While I can sing the praises of the entire national line up, there are some great local acts that will be playing the concert series as well. My recommendation (for what it's worth) would be to make sure to check out Madahoochi (performing before national act Little Feat), Jon Hardy and the Public and The Feed (both performing before national act Train).
Whatever your taste in music, this year's Levee lineup has something for you. Oh, and if you see me down on the levee, make sure to save me a seat.
