Spend Valentine's Day at The Old Rock House

For all you love birds out there, I don't need to remind you: Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Oooooh, the pressure. The reservations, the chocolates, the cards, the flowers, the perfect night. How about the live music? Yes, if you're looking for something a tad bit different this year, you have an interesting option at The Old Rock House, and it just might impress your lady friend (of course, this is directed to all you dudes out there who haven't even thought about V-Day yet).
It will be a night of easy listening featuring Carrie Rodriguez, Erin McKeown and Mary Gauthier, and you even have the option of purchasing a reserved seat, as this show is part of The Old Rock House's "Listening Room Series." If you've never been to the venue before, trust me, you'll want to pay the extra $10 to sit down ($25 reserved, $15 general admission), especially since this will be an acoustic-type affair. So, you can even go out to dinner before the show and not have to worry about arriving early to get a "good spot." You're covered.
As for the music itself, I've become a pretty big fan of Rodriguez over the past two years. She just released an excellent new album with Ben Kyle titled 'We Still Love Our Country,' and I would imagine a few of those songs will be on display. Rodriguez's 'Love and Circumstance,' which came out last year, was also wonderful, so she's at the top of her game (and her last show at The Old Rock House was top notch).
As for McKeown and Gauthier, they've both received their share of critical praise over the last few years. They're both constantly on the road, and I remember Gauthier opening for Cowboy Junkies a few years ago at The Sheldon. I'm sure they'll prove to be fine pairings with the talented Rodriguez.
Here's the seating chart for the show. Get your tickets now, and stop worrying about Valentine's Day. This year, all you gotta do is sit back and relax with three female singer-songwriters and your date. It's really that easy.
