The big surprises at the 51st annual Grammys? A very pregnant M.I.A. showed up, but Rihanna and Chris Brown did not, thanks to a nasty assault case (Brown allegedly attacked Rihanna with a "deadly weapon") that threatened to overshadow the awards. Jay-Z dropped a few verses with Chris Martin, Radiohead jammed with a college marching band, and Miley Cyrus sang about the joys of being "Fifteen" with Taylor Swift. Oh, and some awards were handed out, mostly to Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, who won Album of the Year and four other trophies.

Man, I hated the Grammys last night. Half-hearted performances and ridiculous collaborations. (Adele & Sugarland, the rap-pack, etc.)
