Rockin' Soldier's Memorial

High flood waters are forcing organizers to call an audible for Live on the Levee. Instead of the riverfront, all shows will be held at Soldier's Memorial across from city hall. Despite the change in venue, all acts will perform as normal. Almost everyone is bound to hear some music they like... from Top 40 to classic rock n' roll supergroups. County is thrown in the mix as well, along with a little soul and blues. One of St. Louis' premiere music festivals, look for 10 nights of free enterainment this July with music, food and fireworks.

Live OFF the Levee at Soldier's Memorial
F.A.Q.

Where is the new location?

Live OFF the Levee will take place in the Soldier's Memorial area downtown. This is the same location where the Susan G. Komen race was held. The street boundaries of the festival grounds are Tucker (12th Street) on the east, Market Street on the south, 15th Street on the west, and Olive Street on the north. Other landmarks in the area include the St. Louis Public Library and City Hall.

Where will the fireworks be shot?

The US Bank/Enterprise Rent-A-Car fireworks will be shot from a barge on the Mississippi River. While the river remains above flood level, it will be safe for barge traffic by July 4th, enabling us to shoot from the river. This means we will be able to use the large "shells" that are hallmarks of the big fireworks display shown each year at Fair Saint Louis...LIVE on the Levee and which led to it being named one of the Top 10 places to watch fireworks on the Fourth of July in the U.S.

From the new festival grounds, patrons will see the fireworks from a distance. Because we shoot such large shells, the fireworks will be visible over the city skyline and above the Budweiser Main Stage at Chestnut and Tucker.

Will all of the scheduled bands appear?

Yes! Live OFF the Levee will include all of the same great name entertainment already announced for Fair Saint Louis...LIVE on the Levee, including Drake Bell and Joss Stone on July 4th and Anthony Hamilton on July 5th. Plus, we'll have the AmerenUE/Schnucks K-Town Kids Zone for the younger set.

And we'll conclude each evening with the spectacular US Bank/Enterprise Rent-A-Car fireworks.

Why can't the event be held on the Arch grounds?

The festival area for Fair Saint Louis...LIVE on the Levee is Leonor K. Sullivan Blvd. along the levee. It is currently under water due to flooding of the Mississippi River and is not expected to recede in time for us to set up the stage and event infrastructure starting on June 27th. In fact, current predictions are that the floodwaters will be an issue in that area through mid-July. As a result the event must be relocated.

While the National Park Service would allow Fair Saint Louis to be held on its grounds to celebrate the national holiday, it cannot accommodate our event for the remaining five weeks. Holding Fair Saint Louis on the Arch grounds would require building the stage for the Fourth of July weekend, disassembling it, and rebuilding it again in another location. While our sponsors are incredibly generous, rebuilding the stage twice is a cost we cannot afford to absorb and keep the event free to attend.

Where should we park?

There is ample parking in the area around Soldier's Memorial. Suggested lots include: 1215 Olive, Parkside Garage, Parkside Lot, Union Station East lot, Union Station - West Lot, Union Station - South Lot, Tucker & St. Charles and 20th Street and Chestnut - East Lot. A complete list of parking locations is available on our website.

We also encourage people to take Metro to and from Live OFF the Levee. The Civic Center stop on 14th Street and the Union Station stop are both just a few short blocks from the fun!

What can we bring with us?

The rules at the new site are the same as on the Arch grounds. No coolers or alcoholic beverages allowed. No pets except for service animals. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome and encouraged.
