A South Grand landmark, Al Smith’s Feasting Fox, known
simply as Feasting Fox, was built in 1914 by August A Busch, Sr. The stucco
constructed building underwent several changes in ownership, suffered a fire,
and even sat vacant from 1986-1993 until it was saved from demolition by the
Dutchtown South Neighborhood Association. But its remarkable history aside,
this German restaurant is also a must-try for its food, which includes German
black bean soup and Wiener Schnitzel as well as American dishes from chicken
tenders to filet mignon to pasta primavera.
