It’s been a long time since I’ve indulged in the joy known as a caramel apple. I spent the better part of every fall stuffing my face with them on a daily basis when I was a kid. But there was only one kind I’d eat regularly: the Happy Apple. I don’t know if it was the grinning cartoon apple on the front that drew me in, or the little peanut chunks, but I was addicted. And honestly, I can’t think of anything that says “Halloween” with more gusto than the classic caramel apple. Since that season is upon us again, I sharpened my old sweet tooth and took a scouting trip.
