I was very excited, returning to my home town of STL for the "VP" Fair, when my friends mentioned that we could wait for the Metrolink line to slow down after the fireworks by grabbing a drink and a bite at a piano bar on the Landing.
When my group of 6 entered (with a "rush" of maybe 20-30 people) the hostess was actively discouraging us from sitting down because they were closing in - an hour and a half!
We then tried to sit at the cocktail tables near the piano, but were told that no food would be served to us at these tables. By the way there were about 50 folks seated at the time.
So we went to the bar to order. They told us that no food would be served to us there either. We would have to move to the back banquettes. But then the Hostess told us they were not serving food anyway because, again, they are closing in an hour and a half. (???)
So we sat at the cocktail tables we wanted in the first place. The place, by now, was nearly empty since the staff had successfully shoo'd the rest of the guests away.
Well of course the piano player stopped. I thought for a break, but of course it was for the night. SO that they could close in an hour and a half, no doubt.
I realize the Landing probably has slow nights. So I can understand an early regular close time and calling an even earlier close on a slow night. But to refuse to take customer money is weird. And on the night of Faire St. Louis, or whatever it is called now, you know you will get a 9:30 - Midnight rush, so why not make some money for the bar and the staff by welcoming the guests?
Worse, if you basically close at 9:30 PM, then list that as your close time so we can make plans to go elsewhere.

last week my girlfriend and I were looking to try something different for dinner. We live out in west county and have been to just about every restaurant out there and thought going into the city would be the change we were looking for. Hannegans came up on my i phone as a place to try so we gave it a shot and couldn't have been happier. They had live music, a friendly staff, a really neat setup with lots of booths that look at the stage like a concert. Needless to say we had a great time, and will frequent Hannegans on Saturdays

Hannegan's hmmm it was not what i thought it was going to be. my pasta was over cooked, the shrimp were not deveined. We were sat in the back with a dirty booth which started the whole bad time. The service was ok but not great. If i had of known before hand where i was going, i'd probably turn around.
