And the winner is…
Favazza's
5201 Southwest Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63139Neighborhood: The Hill
Imagine that... another great Italian restaurant on The Hill. Favazza's also specializes in great, authentic and affordable cuisine. And it's a little more informal than some of the other fine Italian restaurants in the area. There is not a strictly-enforced dress code. While it may not be the best idea to wear jeans here, you can.
Nominees
Dominic's
5101 Wilson Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63110Neighborhood: The Hill
You do not get any more authentic than Dominics. This Italian gem has been open since 1971, and has consistently turned out some of the best Italian cuisine in not just St. Louis, but all over the country.
Cunetto House of Pasta
5453 Magnolia Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63139Neighborhood: South City
Opening just one year later was Cunetto's. This place puts amazing flavor into every dish, and does it on the cheap. There is not one item on the menu that's more than $20.
Tony's
410 Market St.
St. Louis, MO 63102Neighborhood: Downtown
What's there to say about Tony's? One of the priciest restaurants in town, it also offers up some of the most amazing food you'll ever eat, with unprecedented tableside service. You'll likely run into some of St. Louis' elite while eating here. There's a reason for that.
Kemoll's
211 N. Broadway
St. Louis, MO 63102Neighborhood: Downtown
Talk about history. Kemoll's has been owned and operated by the same family since 1927. There's a reason this place has been around that long. Like Tony's, Kemoll's will also set you back quite a bit in terms of price, but the food, service and amazing view of the Arch make it worth it for those special occasions.
Paul Manno's Cafe
75 Forum Shopping Ctr.
Chesterfield, MO 63017Neighborhood: West St. Louis County
All of the other top Italian restaurants have been on The Hill or in Downtown St. Louis. Not Paul Mannos. It's sitting smack dab in the middle of a strip mall in Chesterfield. Unassuming from the outside, things change once you walk inside... especially if you see one of the dozens of St. Louis professional athletes or other A-listers. There's a reason why people love this place. The food and service are pretty much unrivaled... well, except by maybe one of the other restaurants on this list.
