May 28: Chuy Arzola's is back for more

There were a lot of unhappy people when the Arzola family closed Chuys last year. The Tex-Mex joint in Dogtown was a fun little spot - and the people who worked there were always super friendly. When Highway 40 shut down, though, it was hard to draw people to the restaurant. So the Arzola family decided it was time to close. But it seems like retirement didn't sit well with Eddie Arzola, because he decided to re-open Chuys... this time, in a new location. The new Chuy Arzola's occupies what was once Joe Boccardi's - inside the Coronado building in Midtown. It seems like more and more cool stuff is happening in and around the SLU campus. First, you had Pappy's, Buffalo Brewing and The U move into the same building. That's three quality eateries right there. Then The Good Pie opened. You've got Lush, several other dance clubs... and it seems like more and more is popping up every day.
I recently got an invite to attend a special, pre-opening bash at Chuys... and I'll tell you, there's a lot to like. The patio is awesome, and will be packed in the spring and summer. The drinks are great - there are a lot of different margarita options, and the food is - well, not much different than it used to be. Check out photos from my trip to the new Chuy Arzola's.
So what do you think about Chuys re-opening? Are you excited? Leave a comment below.
