With the consistently bad news coming out about the state of the economy, it's hard to believe that an upscale restaurant would open in the heart of downtown St. Louis. But that's exactly what's happened with Gio's Ristorante. The restaurant is a joint venture between veteran restaurateurs Dominic and Jackie Galati (Dominic's) and John Ruggeri. Ruggeri was Dominic's top chef for years before leaving to pursue his own restaurant in Wentzville. Now the two have teamed up again for a brand new restaurant downtown. Metromix was invited to the grand opening event, where we got a chance to sample some food and drink... and get a look at the vibe.
