I am a firm believer that the best way to dine is not to have one big plate of food, but rather a bunch of different small plates. For instance, if you order Fettuccini Alfredo… after six bites, it's almost monotonous. Maybe I suffer from attention deficit disorder with food. Just give me a bunch of creative little dishes any day of the week. That's what Balaban's Wine Cellar and Tapas Bar brings to the table. I am not saying it's cheaper, but it's a lot more tasty.
Now don’t let Balaban’s fool you. This isn’t Herbie’s Vintage 72 in the Central West End, which opened in the old Balaban’s building. This spot is on Clarkson Road in Chesterfield. However, it’s owned by Steve McIntyre, who owned and operated the old Balaban’s for 21 years. So how does the new spot compare?

I ate there with a group of friends, we had a reservation, it was awful! AWFUL, poor service, cold food and tiny portions, it was $35 + tip unwell ...
