Iron Barley is an unassuming storefront nestled in South City, complete with handwritten signs on sandwich boards, a screen door and a bit of bluegrass music floating out to the sidewalk. However, don’t let the modest appearance fool you; this place is packed with personality, great eats and some impressive drink offerings. Though the restaurant and bar are both small, people will pack in to try some of the tasty recipes that have been featured on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and the Travel Channel’s Man V. Food. The interior is straight-up kitsch, and the clientele is as diverse as the décor. While we were there, the restaurant was flooded with everyone from college-age students to West County families to South City hipsters. So, whatever your walk of life (or whatever you hunger for), Iron Barley has you covered.
