We are in the thick of summer, and in St. Louis, many words spring to mind at the mention of this season: Heat, humidity, ungodly warmth, sweatiness. While the word "summer" may call up those hot words, there are equally as many "cool" thoughts: Ice cream, frozen custard, popcicles, Slurpees. But for me, summer means one thing: Sno-cones. All the stands start opening back up for the season around Memorial Day, and it is truly one of the biggest things I look forward to every year. Nothing cools me off and refreshes me on a hot summer day like a mound of shaved ice drenched in flavored syrup in a styrofoam cup. Now that summer is in full swing, let's take a spin around town to preview some of the best sno-cone joints in St. Louis.
