Dorm Room dinners at 33 Wine Bar
Course two came served in some very creative containers - let's just say everyone in the joint recognized these boxes. What might have been a little different, though, was what was inside. Instead of standard chicken nuggets, The Good Pie chefs were a little more creative. Sure, you had chicken nuggets, but they were about 100 times better than anything you'd find at a local fast food joint. The chicken was tender, and the fry job was done to perfection. Next came the more interesting options: veal brains and sweetbread. I'd never tried veal brains before, and the idea still creeps me out a bit. But, for the sake of being adventurous, I gave it a shot. One word - interesting. The texture was a little mushy, but really, anything fried tastes good. Finally, the sweetbread nugget. Sweetbread is made from the thymus gland (in the throat) of a young animal. I'd never had sweetbread before, but the consistency reminded me of a fried scallop. This was very good. Perhaps the best part was the homemade honey mustard dipping sauce. I had to stop myself from licking every last drop out of the little paper container.
