After reading the review in STL we went and was very disappointed with the whole over all exp. Service was slow and wine was way over priced and the food come on what portion you got wasn't worth the price you paid. It's in kirkwood and not ladue or clayton! We had to wait forever for our refill on wine and when a think his name was Stephen-gen mgr. he asked how things were and we explained our delay in getting our refills and was very rude and brash and acted like he could care less. I wld not recommend this place at all. considering there is so many other wine bars to choose from!

It's kinda like Cheer's. everyone knows everyone that are regulars and it's all good. But if you are a new person it's cool too. Fun atmosphere and good food. You never know what to expect. That is what is cool. One day it is regulars the next someone you never met. But when it is all said and done.....you leave knowing you had a good time.

We have been to Robust several times. Aside from the fantastic wine and food offerings, it's the staff that keeps us coming back. They are knowledgeable and make terrific suggestions. We have never been disappointed.

Claypool wrote about Harvest

Last night, I had my birthday dinner with my wife at Harvest. Wow, am I glad we went here. I'd heard good things about Harvest for a long time, and worked with owner Steve Gontram on the Metromix Taste of St. Louis special - but I'd never been there. There's not a ton on the menu at any given time, but the menu does change often. After going back and forth, I decided on the rabbit dish. WOW! It was so good. The meat was tender, the sauce was excellent and the presentation was top notch. It was actually two takes on rabbit with one dish. The first way it was prepared was wrapped in Harvest's homemade bacon. Then, once you ge past a few of those chunks of meat, you find a rabbit-stuffed canneloni, which was perhaps even better. We had a nice bottle of wine, some garlic mashed potatoes and buttermilk onion rings on the side - and an amazing bread pudding for dessert. Even better, since I'm on Harvest's mailing list for events with Metromix, I got a coupon for a free entree on my birthday. All in all, this was a great trip. We will be back!

We went to Bravo last week and actually liked it alot. We are new yorkers and know what we like when it comes to italian we got the chicken parm and the fried raviolis which were very fresh and very good. then my husband got the tutti mare and he thought is was very good as well. Finding a little Garlic clove is nothing to complain about please...with Italian you are going to find garlic cloves in the food

The waiter was great, the service was great. The food: just terrible. It is rare that I--one who's equally comfortable eating street food as a Noritake-plated rack of lamb--would not make it through half a serving AND decline to take a box. But, this is what happened, and not just with me but with my date. I can still taste the very bad mussel that I unfortunately popped in my mouth (and before you say, "Why order seafood in St. Louis?" consider, "Why offer something on the menu if it isn't fit to be served?"), and that was not the least of it. Very poor food...and simply outrageously expensive for the quality. You'll get better Chinese/Thai in Butte, Montana. We discussed how they stay in business, and it must be the one-offs (like us) from the many nearby hotels. Move up or down the street: you'll get far better food, and at far more affordable prices. Sorry, Bamboo Bistro, but it's TRUE.

You start off with a small bowl of beef or chicken soup, and follow with fresh authentic dishes made daily. These include: beef, chicken, pork, and or shrimp with seasonal vegetables and the ever present tomatoes, onions and peppers nicely seasoned. All dishes served with spanish rice, beans, and are accompanied by corn tortillas, or freshly baked "bolillo" bread and the ever present array of salsas. Prices range from $2.25 for a taco to $7.50 for a complete meal. The atmosphere in a restaurant offering Comida Corrida is the most attractive thing for me, aside from the good food. Restaurant "Don Carlos" attracts all sorts of customers including the weary visitors, the businessman with a short lunch break and whole families who decide not to go through the hassle of cooking that day. This atmosphere provides great opportunities for both people watching and meeting some of the local folk. All in all, "Don Carlos shares top place with other food vendors, and is on my eating list as the best places to eat mexican food is South City. Comida corrida = table d’hote, a small meal of several courses at a fixed price eaten between about 1 and 4 p.m.

nancydrew7 wrote about Modesto Tapas Bar and Restaurant

I had been to Modesto for the fifth, and final, time on Friday, October 23. I chose it for a get together with friends, as I have thoroughly enjoyed the first four trips. Apparently, my luck had run out. We had a reservation for 10 at 6. At 6:30 we were informed that we needed to speed it up as there was another reservation at 8 for that table. Not only did the bum's rush not set the right tone, we waited 40 minutes for things from the grill. No apology, just some excuse about how the "grill is backed up." Even if we wanted to eat quickly, it would not have been possible. And, my husband did not get his final entree. The waitress claimed she "just took it off of the table," after we asked. It is a shame when you spend two hours at dinner and still have to hit the White Castle because you didn't get any food. I won't return, and I'll tell everyone who asks to go to Barcelona in Clayton.

Nice idea that was poorly executed. Menu items are way overpriced. Nothing we ordered was spectacular or even memorable. Will not be visiting Ice Kitchen again. Love Drunken Fish, though!

I love this place. I used to live in Maryland Heights growing up and it was and is the best pizza around. Staff is great and prices are fair. Worth the drive wherever you live or work.

My girlfriend and I went to this steakhouse looking for a good steak. We never found it. The med-rare steak I ordered was well done. The brisket she ordered was tough and flavorless. Her side of mashed potatoes was luke-warm. The manager tried to blame the problem on our server. We were comped, but they won't get a second chance at my business. If I want a steak, I'll do it myself before they get another chance.

We have dinned at the Fairview Heights location for many years as it has become one of our families favorite places to eat. We were so very pleased to learn this location had opened and immediately made reservations to dine at the new location. The new location, just like the Fairview Heights location, is so warm and inviting. There are plenty of booths and tables as we had no problem getting sat right away. The food was just as remarkable as it has always been at the original location. It needs saying, we were very impressed. I had the signature 22 oz. strip, which is loaded full of flavor and tenderness, and my wife had the fillet. Superb! Everyone was so nice to us and treated us so well. We sill definitely be returning!

While the pizza, chicken wings, and chicken tenders are wonderful, I find the sandwiches and pasta not up to standard. However, the delivery service and ambiance is great so will just avoid the items as 'not so very good'. Your wonderful pizza makes up for the poorer quality of sandwiches and pastas.

We have been coming to Andria's since they opened last December. The staff is welcoming and the restaurant is cozy, but how could I forget the food. The steaks are cooked perfectly and absolutely wonderful, their baked potatoes also are unlike anywhere else. The seabass on the menu as well as the Halibut that you could catch as a special are delicious. Andria's is definitely our favorite restaurants in Chesterfield.

BenTerrific wrote about Thai Country Cafe

The place lived up to all the things I read: Wacky, kitschy crap covering the wood-paneled walls, a gazebo facing the street for people watching and, yes, a giant wagon wheel in the center of the room. Think Cracker Barrel meets Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. Nevertheless, it was a relatively clean and inviting atmosphere. As all of the review I had read indicated, we were indeed dealt with by two separate, intense servers. Both waiters seemed way too overwhelmed for the size of the dining room and amount of guests in it (already walking to the next table while taking drink orders), but we were in no rush and it was something to laugh about. We started off with some crispy spring rolls. Four small portions freshly rolled and lightly fried. Not overly oily and the filling was really nice – hot, great crunch, but not overcooked. The spring rolls were served with a clear dipping sauce that MIGHT have been nothing more than honey and red pepper flakes, but regardless, it was sweet and spicy and delicious. I’m not very fluent in my Thai food and the entree menu is so vast it’s a little mind boggling. I ordered number 37 and my girlfriend number 70. My dish consisted of green and red peppers, peas, bamboo shoots and chicken tossed in thin vermicelli-like noodles and a green curry sauce. Neither of us indicated what heat level we wanted, but both dishes were near-perfect (obviously spicy, as can be expected in Thai cuisine, but not to the point of brow-sweat, although I had to take a break for some Thai iced coffee once or twice!). My girlfriend’s dish was similar with most of the same ingredients, although hers included coconut milk and had significantly more bamboo shoots. I personally love the taste of coconut milk and curry together and, to me, this dish was the winner of the two. My only complaint about either meal is that the noodles had an off consistency (kind of chewy, overcooked) and the chicken was obviously cooked separately, and judging by the taste, possibly in my brother’s unwashed George Foreman Grill. The portions, however, were large, as we both ate half of our meal and took the other half home. We were presented with the check as the plates were cleared, but we informed the waiter that we wanted to take a look at the dessert menu. He removed the bill and let us know that the only dessert available was the fried bananas with honey. Okaaay … The dish was hot, fresh out of the fryer and covered in drizzled honey. Like the spring rolls, the bananas were freshly wrapped in the same flaky, light dough (almost like phyllo dough) and the flesh of the bananas inside was pleasingly near-molten and sweet. Nothing outstanding about this dish, but overall a tasty dessert. When the check came for the second time it was $40 total for a meal for two with tax and tip. Overall, I was more than happy with Thai Country Café and I would return without question. Bottom line: Above-average, authentic Thai food at a low price with great atmosphere.

I visited Andria's Steakhouse for the first time last evening. I had read an add about a filet special for $19.95 so I decided to give it a try. On my servers suggestion I started out with their house specialty lobster turnovers. The turnovers alone will get me to come back. My steak was very tender and prepared just the way I ordered it. For dessert the server suggested a chocolate bread pudding. With the rain that night the warm bread pudding was a great way to end the evening. I came in because of an add and will continue to return for great food, good service, and an enjoyable evening.

Love good seafood. The Fin In is a great place, especially when your riding the Great River Road looking at fal colors or searching for eagles in winter. I havn't been to the places you list but the best seafood in St.Louis for years has been Bristol's, both in O'Fallon , Mo. & West County. I can't belive they don't even get on your list.

My girlfriend and I went out to eat here last week and was our first time. We were celebrating our two anniversary together so wanted a nice place to go and eat. We were recommended by my uncle to come here and eat. The food was fantastic. I had the 16 oz strip and my girlfriend had the 8 oz filet. They were cooked perfect and were extremely tender. The service was also very good and attentive also. And being on a Saturday night sometimes service isnt the best but wasnt the case here.
