ABC announced the new Bachelor on Dancing with the Stars last week and no shock to anyone it was Jake Pavelka. He was on the Jillian Harris’ season of The Bachelorette and Jake was turned down with a mere five men to go. Labeled as a sweetheart who was not enough of a risk-taker, airline pilot Jake Pavelka came back to the show to tell Jillian that contestant Wes had a girlfriend back in his hometown of Texas. At the final rose ceremony, female fans swooned over Jake and gave him a rousing ovation when he was in the “hot seat”.
This would not be my first choice for the new Bachelor but I truly have no say in it. ABC keeps repurposing Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants from previous seasons and I think it is about time for a fresh start. And apparently, I am not alone on this. The consensus on the message board on abc.go.com has bloggers questioning the decision to go with Jake as the new Bachelor.
Don’t get me wrong, I will still be glued to my tube every Monday night to see which girls are fake, which girls get into cat fights and most importantly who gets the boot. The new season of The Bachelor starts January 2010.
Do you think bringing Jake back as the new Bachelor was a good idea or a poor decision on the part of ABC? Leave your comment at the bottom of the page.
